The framework agreed by the US and Israel calls for an immediate halt to military operations and outlines future governance of the enclave
US President Donald Trump has unveiled a roadmap for peace in Gaza, calling for an immediate halt to military operations and laying out the enclave's future governance.
The 20-pointplan, released by the White House during Trump's meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday, calls for an immediate ceasefire and the exchange of all hostages held by Hamas for Palestinian prisoners in Israel. Once agreed, Israeli forces would pull back to a designated line and carry out a staged withdrawal, with Israel pledging it "will not occupy or annex Gaza."
The plan envisions Gaza as a "deradicalized, terror-free zone," with Hamas excluded from governance. Hamas members who disarm would receive amnesty, while the enclave would be placed under "temporary transitional governance" led by a "technocratic, apolitical Palestinian committee" managing services and municipalities. The committee would answer to a "Board of Peace" chaired by Trump, which would oversee funding and reconstruction until the Palestinian Authority carries out reforms to assume control.
The plan leaves the door open to a future Palestinian state but does not indicate whether the US will recognize it.
At a White House press conference, Trump warned that unless Hamas accepts the plan, he will give Israel the green light to continue its ground operation in Gaza. Netanyahu endorsed the plan, but also warned that Israel would "finish the job" of eradicating Hamas militarily if the group refuses.
Media reports said Hamas negotiators in Doha received the plan late Monday. The group has not announced a position but reportedly said it would review the proposal "in good faith." Hamas has repeatedly rejected disarmament or any plan that does not include Palestinian self-determination.
The announcement comes as Israel continues its bombardment of Gaza, while international bodies and hostage families have intensified calls for a settlement.

Last week, France, the UK, Canada, and Australia formally recognized a Palestinian state at the UN General Assembly - a move that was condemned by both the Trump administration and Israel. Earlier this month, a UN commission accused Israel of genocide in Gaza, where more than 65,000 Palestinians have been killed.
