SYDNEY, NSW, Australia - A teenage boy has been admitted to hospital, while three younger boys have been arrested, charged, and detained by police.
The trio, aged 14, 15, and 15, are accused of assaulting and robbing the older boy, who is seventeen.
Officers attached to the Sydney City Police Area Command were called to Barangaroo, in the Sydney CBD, shortly before 1:00am on Saturday.
There, they found a 17-year-old boy who reported he'd been punched and kicked by 3 younger boys. He alleged the younger boys had stolen his shoes, bag and backpack.
He was taken to St Vincent's Hospital and treated for bruising and abrasions.
Police under Operation Next Gen tracked the three boys from Barangaroo to St Mary's Train Station in Sydney's west, where they were arrested by officers attached to Nepean Police Area Command. Police say the trio was caught with the stolen items.
A 14-year-old boy and the two 15-year-old boys were taken to St Mary's Police Station, where detectives attached to Sydney City PAC charged each with robbery armed with an offensive weapon.
All were refused bail to appear in a children's court later on Saturday, a statement from NSW Police released Saturday said.
Operation Next Gen is a proactive strategy initiated by Sydney City PAC targeting youth-related crime within the CBD.
