Australian Nick Kyrgios withdrew from the Mallorca Championships on Wednesday due to an abdominal injury.
Kyrgios, who is ranked 45th in the world, made the announcement ahead of his scheduled round-of-16 match against Roberto Bautista Agut of Spain.
"I have been playing a lot of great matches lately and unfortunately I woke up with a pain in my abs. I went to see the tournament doctor right away and he advised that I don't play tonight," Kyrgios said. "I really value the Mallorca Championships but I will follow his advice as I don't want to risk Wimbledon next week."
Kyrgios, 27, rallied to post a 5-7, 7-6 (1), 7-6 (1) win over Serbia's Laslo Djere on Tuesday in a match that lasted 2 hours, 15 minutes.
Kyrgios has won six singles titles in his career. He twice has been a Grand Slam quarterfinalist -- at Wimbledon in 2014 and the Australian Open in 2015.
