KATOOMBA, Blue Mountains, NSW, Australia - New South Wales Police are continuing their investigation into a serious road traffic crash in the Blue Mountains on Saturday night, which closed the busy arterial Great Western Highway in both directions, causing widespread disruptions to traffic.
The single-vehicle truck crash occurred just before midnight on Saturday night on the Great Western Highway in Katoomba.
Police were told the truck, carrying newspapers, left the road and crashed into an embankment, spilling its cargo across the highway.
Emergency services worked to free the driver of the truck, a man aged 30, before he was treated and taken to Nepean Hospital in a serious condition.
Officers attached to Blue Mountains Police Area Command attended and commenced the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Police are appealing for anyone who may have dash cam footage of the incident to contact Crime Stoppers.
