A 30-year old man appeared in a Central West court on Sunday after being charged with murder. He was refused bail.
The man had been arrested on Saturday night following a suspected altercation which occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning in Forbes.
Police were alerted after a man was seen allegedly assaulting another man, who was lying on the ground at a home in Forbes about 4am on Saturday morning.
Officers from the Central West Police District attended and commenced CPR before NSW Ambulance paramedics arrived; however, efforts to revive the man failed and he died at the scene.
The man has not been formally identified but is believed to be aged in his 40s.
A crime scene was established and local detectives, assisted by the State Crime Command's Homicide Squad, began an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the man's death.
Following inquiries, police arrested the 30-year old man at a home in Forbes, about 8.45pm on Saturday night.
He was taken to Parkes Police Station where he was charged with murder.
He was refused bail ahead of his appearance before the Dubbo Local Court on Sunday, where he was again refused bail and ordered to appear in Orange Local Court on Monday.
