KATOOMBA, Blue Mountains, NSW, Australia - A high school teacher appeared in the Katoomba Local Court on Tuesday on charges that he engaged in sexual activity with a student in the Blue Mountains, west of Sydney.
Earlier this month, officers from the Blue Mountains Police Area Command commenced an investigation following reports a local teacher had sexually touched a student on a number of occasions while at school.
Following extensive inquiries, investigators arrested a 49-year-old man at a home at Katoomba about 4:00pm last Friday.
He was taken to Katoomba Police Station and charged.
Police alleged in court that the man developed a relationship with a female student while he was working as a teacher at a high school in the Blue Mountains, during which he allegedly indecently assaulted and sexually touched her on several occasions between 2015 and 2019.
He was refused bail and appeared at Parramatta Bail Court on Saturday where he was granted conditional bail ahead of his appearance at Katoomba Local Court on Tuesday.
