Lebanon distributes sketch of suspect

Australian Herald Sunday 14th December, 2003

Lebanese authorities have distributed Sunday a sketch of a man suspected of mailing letter bombs to Kuwaiti journalists and intellectuals, killing one.

In a statement, the Lebanese police asked citizens to call in information should they spot the suspect, whom the prosecution said had an Arab Gulf accent.

Prosecutor General Adnan Addoum said Saturday the suspected sender of the letter bombs had the complexion of a Gulf citizen and was in his 40s.

Last week, the booby-trapped letters were sent to Kuwaiti journalists, including the chief editor of Kuwait's al-Siyassa daily, Ahmad Jarallah, who is known to be pro-American. The letters were mailed from the Lebanese express post office in the Lebanese capital, Beirut.
