George Clooney turns 50, celebrates with birthday dinner

LOS ANGELES -- If you remember George Clooney as the boyish star of "ER," brace yourself: he turned 50 Friday.Not that the now silver-haired hunk was about to lie low when he ushered in the half-century mark.Instead, Clooney and his girlfriend Elisabetta Canalis were out celebrating Thursday night with a pre-birthday dinner at Mr. Chow in Beverly Hills, People magazine reported.Actress and current "Dancing with the Stars" contestant Kirstie Alley tweeted about the birthday dinner, ending with "Happy Birthday George Clooney. Great to see u. Better to hug u."
