Gloucester farmers take mining concern to major conference

The impact mining is having farming in the Gloucester Valley will be spelled out to a peak industry conference in July. The mid north coast District Council, of the state's Farmers Association, has drawn up five motions for the annual conference. Association executive Deborah Willis says three of the motions are mining related and have won support from the Wingham, Gloucester and Stroud branches. "One was the accuracy of the information being put forward by the mining companies, by groups, etc, etc that are actually getting around the communities. "That's been of concern to a lot of the members. "So this particular motion is focused on the need for truth, with regards to mining and the impacts on the community," he said.
