Hints Bruce repair funding may be found

While Federal Treasurer Wayne Swan remains tight-lipped on new highway funds in his May Budget, Queensland's Road Minister Craig Wallace hinted at more cash in the June 7 state budget.It follows a Sunday Mail Fix the Bruce campaign through which motorists repeatedly described the state's major highway as a deathtrap.``I am happy to consider further state contributions to funding for the Bruce Highway, which is a federally funded road,'' Mr Wallace said.The Minister said he was waiting to see whether the Federal Government boosted its spending on the highway.The Gillard Government hasn't ruled out extra money.Kirsten Livermore, the federal Labor MP for Capricornia in Central Queensland, would not confirm whether she had been lobbying for increased funding, but said extra money was always we...
