World-first iron recovery technology could be rolled out across the globe

The company behind a world-first Iron Recovery Plant, set to be built on Newcastle's Kooragang Island, will look to build similar plants around the world from next year. Minerals technology company, Austpac will begin constructing the recycling plant immediately, now that it has signed a multi-million dollar funding agreement with Kronos International. Austpac's Managing Director, Mike Turbott expects more than a dozen full-time jobs will be created after a successful 12-month pilot project in Newcastle. "We'll have the plant in commissioning stage by the fourth quarter and starting operations late in the year," he said.
