Ethanol plant closes temporarily because of floods

The floods have forced a temporary halt to operations at Australia's newest ethanol plant near Dalby on the Darling Downs in southern Queensland. Chief executive Kevin Endres says it is not safe for workers to travel to and from the site. "The heavy rains and flooding has resulted in disruption to grain supply and, as well, the off-take of ethanol," he said. "It quite frankly means we're pretty full up. "In addition to that we've made a prudent decision to ensure people don't try and get to the plant under the current conditions and basically place themselves at harm."
