U.S nuclear traders to get uranium from Russia

Australian Herald Saturday 2nd February, 2008

The United States and Russia have signed a new trade deal allowing U.S nuclear power reactors to get more supply of Russian enriched uranium.

The deal signed on Friday allows Russia to provide U.S utilities with a reliable supply of nuclear fuel and boost exports to the United States.

US Commerce Secretary Carlos Gutierrez said the order for Russian uranium products is for peaceful purposes.

Russia is also supplying nuclear fuel to Iran, which the United States has accused of using its uranium enrichment program as a front to secretly develop nuclear weapons.
